Leyton Orient had to settle for a point in their final outing of 2023 after a League One stalemate with Wycombe at Brisbane Road.

Former O's striker Kieran Sadlier sent an early angled shot just wide on five minutes, before Shaq Forde burst into the visiting box and saw a dangerous ball cleared.

Ruel Sotiriou fired over after Dan Happe had found Jordan Brown to cross into the area, with Forde then denied by a goalline clearance from Joe Low on 13 minutes.

Forde was foiled by a good block from Josh Scowen after being played in by Sotiriou on 27 minutes, while Sadlier had a shot deflected behind by Happe at the other end.

But O's lost Sotiriou to injury on 35 minutes, to be replaced by Dan Agyei, and Max Stryjek made a fine save to deny Tom James moments later.

Agyei was booked for kicking the ball away after being flagged offside as the scoreline remained blank at the break, with Forde firing over soon after the restart.

James had a free-kick awarded for a foul on Agyei deflected away by Stryjek, then saw another attempt go just wide of the target after Theo Archibald's shot was deflected into his path.

Archibald and Darren Pratley made way for Joe Pigott and Max Sanders on the hour, with O's forcing a string of corners around the midway point of the second half.

Agyei's cross just evaded Pigott at the far post on 70 minutes, before George Moncur replaced Idris El Mizouni in the home side's final change of the night.

And Moncur combined well with Agyei to set up Forde on 83 minutes, but his shot was straight at Stryjek.

James had a shot blocked from Pigott's pass, before the latter had a shot deflected behind.

And neither side could find a winner during four minutes of stoppage time as honours finished even.

O's begin 2024 with a trip to Cambridge United on January 1.
