David Worrall thought experienced striker Steve Morison was in his late 30s before he arrived at Millwall.

The Lions summer signing made the revelation after helping Neil Harris’ side seal a 2-1 victory over Sheffield United.

Morison, 32, scored a late penalty to earn the three points and Worrall admits he was taken aback by the talisman when he arrived at the Den.

The former Southend United winger said: “He surprises me Moro, when I first come I thought he was in his late 30s, he’s been around that long.

“But he’s great to be around. He’s one of the players Neil told me I would enjoy playing with. He can make you a better play because he’s approachable.”

When asked what it was that made him think Morison was approaching 40, Worrall said: “How much grey hair he’s got!

“No, I just remember watching him in the Premiership – he just seems to have been around for years.

“Then when I found out his age when I first come I thought, ‘decent’.

“You can tell the way he gets around the pitch – he helps Lee [Gregory] a lot. He’s refreshing to play with and was class [against Sheffield United]. The two centre-backs knew they had a tough game on their hands.”

A new house in London has helped Worrall settle quickly following his move from the Shrimpers.

The energetic winger insists he is getting on well with his new teammates, although he suggested Morison owes him a meal after his goal against United.

“I’ve got a place now – I’m fully moved in. I wanted to settle quickly so I’m not messing around,” Worrall, 26, added.

“I’m getting on with the lads, I’ve been out for food with Moro the last two nights. I paid for him last night so he owes me now after his goal bonus I’d like to think.”

Worrall has been singled out for praise by Harris on multiple times already this season.

And the Manchester-born player insists he is enjoying working with the 39-year-old manager.

He said: “All I ever heard was good things about him before I come. He’s very detailed.

“I know how he wants me to play and what he wants me to do before every game.”
