Ben Thompson says reaching the League One play-off final with Millwall means everything to him.
The 20-year-old has become a key figure in Neil Harris’ dressing room and played his 35th game of the season against Bradford on Friday.
A boyhood Millwall fan, Thompson insists he cherishes every time he steps on to the pitch for the Lions.
“This means everything to me,” the Sidcup-born star said after Millwall beat Bradford to reach the play-off final at Wembley.
“Every time I go out on the pitch it’s a special moment for me, I’m always nervous before games.
“To go out there and do what we did to get to Wembley is a great achievement.”
Millwall will face Barnsley in the play-off final after beating the Bantams 4-2 over two legs.
The Lions were immediately in the driving seat, taking a 3-1 lead back to the Den before holding firm to draw 1-1 on Friday evening.
Thompson insists Bradford, who finished the season fifth in League One, provided a tough challenge.
The midfielder added: “They made us work very hard – I feel knackered!
“They are a good team and gave us a good challenge, but we dealt with it well and thankfully it paid off.”
