Surbiton Ladies will spend April chasing an unprecedented triple, but it is European glory that will be the jewel in the crown.

Captain Sarah Haycroft’s team held out for a 0-0 draw with Holcombe at Sugden Road on Saturday, to ensure they completed the regular WHL Premier Division campaign with an unbeaten record.

It means they will face Reading in the play-off semi-finals on April 18 – seven days before they take on Clifton in the Women’s Cup.

Before then they travel to Holland for the EuroHockey Club Champions Cup quarter finals over the Easter weekend, where they will take on Spanish outfit Club De Campo.

“Europe is all we are concentrating on now and that is all we are preparing for now,” said Surbiton star Georgie Twigg last week.

“The Spanish side will play a completely different style to what we are used to.

“Traditionally the Dutch sides have always done well and it would be fantastic if we could go out there and win.

“The English league is a good league and produces good teams. It would be great to prove that point.”
