Wimbledon hockey club secured their place in the MHL Premier Division finals weekend for the first time in their history, and player/coach Ben Marsden is feeling confident.

A 3-1 win at Beeston on Saturday meant Sunday’s 3-2 defeat at home to Cannock was academic, and now Dons go into April’s end of season finale at the Olympic Park in London alongside Beeston, Surbiton and East Grinstead – all teams they have beaten this season.

Marsden said: “By beating the other three teams we’ve shown that if we have the right conditions and perform on the day we can beat anyone.

“We will be able to go into the play-offs with confidence and there is always a positive attitude around the club which is necessary for success.”

Dons continue the regular season with a trip to Reading this weekend.
