Conan Gray Found Heaven

Synth straight from the 1980s. Haunting, angelic vocal harmonies. Gut-wrenching lyrics you’ll believe were written straight from the pages of your own life.

Conan Gray’s third album, Found Heaven, was released on the 5th of April 2024.

Born in California, Texas-raised, Gray first started his musical journey publishing covers on YouTube at just age 14. Adele’s ‘Make You Feel My Love’ was among these, showcasing that even at such a young age, Conan’s voice has always had the power to impress. His first EP, Sunset Season, was released in 2018, with the song ‘Crush Culture’ instantly striking a chord with teenagers already sick of being surrounded by couples and the Valentine’s Day craze. Kid Krow followed in 2020, his first official album - the lead single Maniac was the first fan favourite, which currently has over 830,000 Spotify streams. However, it was his song, Heather, that put Conan Gray prominently and unmistakably on the map. In October 2022, it surpassed one billion streams, and now stands at a jaw-dropping 1,628,000 on Spotify. The pressure was on for Conan’s second album, to exceed the expectations set by Kid Krow’s stratospheric rise. 2022 gave us Superache; twelve songs about the unbreakable and the broken bonds that Conan had endured by just 23. Songs like Memories, People Watching and The Exit captured people’s hearts once again, with the name Conan Gray now set into stone in the 21st century pop industry.

Found Heaven was announced on the 31st of January 2024. After the pop-perfection of his previous releases, fans of Conan had high expectations - and on the 5th of April 2024, these were exceeded. Gray embraced a new era of his music, an experimental album straight from the 1980s. The Lonely Dancers music video features a jukebox, Conan is adorned in a leather jacket, and the track titles are reminiscent of some 80s favourites; ‘Fainted Love’ similar to the 1981 ‘Tainted Love’ by Soft Cell, ‘Eye of the Night’ reminding us of Survivor’s 1982 classic ‘Eye of the Tiger’, and ‘Never Ending Song’ like Limahl’s 1985 ‘Never Ending Story’. That familiar electro-piano sound of synth is used throughout Conan’s tracks, and his vocal range is showcased like never before in his music.

If there has ever been a Conan Gray album to listen to, it’s Found Heaven. The bridge of the single ‘Alley Rose’ has stolen the hearts of music lovers worldwide, and Conan’s live rendition of the song on Jimmy Kimmel may be one of his best vocal performances to date. Forever With Me is for the romantics, Alley Rose is for the heartbroken, Eye of the Night is for the dancers. Found Heaven is for anybody who wants to experience a 10/10 album in 2024. I encourage everybody reading this to go onto your preferred streaming site, and give the album a listen. You won’t regret it.
