A Bromley primary school where parents are “overwhelmingly positive” and pupils are “polite and kind” has been rated as good by Ofsted.

Keston Church of England Primary School, based on Lakes Road, was most recently inspected on January 25 and 25, 2024.

The report was then published on March 22, 2024.

Inspectors who visited the school found that pupils are “happy, well cared for and enjoy attending this school”.

It was reported that staff know the pupils “very well” and can therefore give them quick support when needed.

This means that pupils feel safe at school, Ofsted reported.

Parents and carers gave Ofsted feedback that was “overwhelmingly positive” and staff were found to be “proud members of this warm and welcoming community”.

Inspectors reported that the school is ambitious for all of its pupils and that children are “eager” to go to school.

Classrooms are found to be “calm, inviting spaces” for children.

There are well established routines in place, inspectors found, which helps pupils to focus when they are learning.

Reading is reported to be “at the heart of the school’s curriculum” which Ofsted believes supports pupils to achieve well.

Behaviour is good at the school and pupils are “polite and kind”.

Ofsted found that the “buddy” system the school has in place helps children to become good citizens.

It promotes the school’s values which, according to Ofsted, “include friendship and trust”.

The curriculum is “broad an ambitious” in the eyes of Ofsted and in most subjects, there is found to be careful planning that goes into making sure pupils remember the important knowledge.

Inspectors described teacher’s subject knowledge as a “strength” and added that staff are “highly skilled” and “very positive about the regular training” they get.

However, in a small area of the curriculum, the knowledge, skills and vocabulary that Ofsted would expect pupils to learn has not been explicitly identified.

Inspectors found that this limits the amount staff can check what pupils know and are capable of.

Attendance from most pupils is “strong” and where necessary, there is effective support in place from the school to support and improve attendance.
