The Simpsons are the most famous animated family in the world and are a nuclear family consisting of a married couple: Homer and Marge and their three children: Bart, Lisa and their baby Meggie. Moreover, the Simpsons was created by Matt Groening, who thought of the idea for the Simpsons in the lobby of James L. Brooks's office. He named the characters after his own family members, substituting "Bart" for his own name. The Simpsons franchise has been entertaining people for more than 30 years and while doing this they have predicted the future on many occasions. Are their predictions more than a string of coincidental events?

One time the Simpsons predicted the future was when they predicted the Ebola Virus outbreak in 2014. In Season 9 Episode 3 "Lisa's Sax" (which was aired on 19th October 1997) Marge endeavours to get a sick Bart out of his bed and by doing this she offers to read him a book with the title "Curious George and the Ebola Virus" but he wasn’t interested at all. So, Marge suggests that he tries to paint a picture instead. However, in reply, Bart ominously points at a drawing showing some kind of apocalypse where he is dead and there is blood and bodies everywhere and the sky and sun appears to cry. So what did maker Matt Groening know that we didn't? Critics are calling it a 'mere coincidence.', in contrast, many believe that the Simpsons did predict the Ebola Virus outbreak 17 years before it actually happened.

Another time the Simpsons predicted the future was when they predicted the presidency of Donald Trump. In Season 11 Episode 17 "Bart to the Future"(which was aired on 19th March 2000) the animated show went up a level in its' prediction talents when it names Donald Trump as having been The President of the United States of America. The episode is about Bart's life when he grows older and this episode, shows Lisa as the being the president.  While in the Oval Office, we hear her say: "As you know, we've inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump." Not only did the show predict this more than 15 years before he was elected in 2016, but they even included his famously memed elevator entrance when he announced his candidacy. Many people have also pointed out that Lisa's appearance (in her purple blazer) is strikingly similar to the current VP, Kamala Harris, however, we believe that her outfit was just used to make her look presentable as the president. Still is a very similar resemblance though.

Another time the Simpsons predicted the future was when they predicted the Higgs-Boson Particle Discovery. In Season 8 Episode 1 "The Wizard of Evergreen Terrace"(which was aired on 20th September 1998) Homer Simpson (portrayed as the stupidest person on the planet) reportedly figured out the mass of the Higgs boson particle. For those unaware of what this means, this was one of the properties of the Large Hadron Collider was built to figure out the thing that could theoretically recreate The Big Bang. It wasn't until 2013 that scientists discovered proof of the Higgs boson in a £10.4 billion ($13 billion) experiment. The fact that the Simpsons predicted this is just mind-blowing!

These are only 3 of the many predictions made by the Simpsons, if we were to include all of them this article would be pages and pages long. Other predictions by the Simpsons include the prediction of 9/11, The Siegfried and Roy Tiger Attack, The Game of Thrones Finale, Disney Buying Fox, Lady Gaga’s Superbowl LI Halftime Show,  Professor Bengt R. Holmstrom Winning The 2016 Nobel Prize In Economics, NSA Mass Surveillance Revealed, Faulty Voter Machines, Richard Branson’s Space Trip, COVID-19, The Shard in London, Horse meat scandal and FIFA corruption arrests. Those are only some of the long list of Simpsons' predcitions. We all have only one question in our heads right now-How? I will try to answer that question in one of my future articles!
