Police are hunting a car driver after 18 people reported being shot with a paintball gun as they walked down the street.

Both men and women were targeted by a man driving a white Mercedes 350GLE across different parts of north London between 9pm and 11pm on August 5.

The victims suffered bruising in the drive-by paintball attacks.

Officers believe the man, who was driving with false number plates, began his shooting spree in Camden Road, before moving through Archway, the back streets of Holloway, Prebend Street in Islington, Clerkenwell and Canonbury. The last report came from close to St Paul's Road.

A CCTV image has been issued of the car on the road and police have described the man as white and aged in his 40s.

They also say that the car has been seen parked in the N1 and EC1 areas of Islington.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Alex Simmons at Islington on 020 7421 0262 or via 101.
