A STREET in Walthamstow has made it to the final three in a competition to find the best road in Europe.

Wood Street is in the running to win The Great Street category of the 2017 Urbanism Awards.

Judges visited, Golden Parade, the indoor market, the Georgian village and Wood Street Library on their tour of the area.

Cllr Clare Coghill, cabinet member for economic growth and high streets, said: “It’s fantastic that Wood Street has been named as a finalist in the Urbanism Awards, and fingers crossed we will be celebrating again when the winners are announced in November.

“It was great to have the opportunity to welcome the award judges and showcase everything that Wood Street has to offer.”

The awards are organised by the Academy of Urbanism.
