A man has been convicted for the crash which killed a football coach from Eltham in America last year, reports say.

Peter Underwood was killed in May when his car collided with a pick-up truck driving the wrong way down the road in Iowa.

Mr Underwood was an avid Charlton Athletic supporter who moved to the states in 2002, where was the assistant coach of the University of Nebraska women's soccer team.

Originally from Eltham, he was the youngest person to ever earn the top UEFA A coaching badge.

According to a report from local media KMTV in Nebrasksa, Paul Marshall of Modale, Iowa, was found guilty of vehicular homicide while operating under the influence.

Marshall was said to have been going the wrong way on Interstate 80 in Cass County when he collided head on with Mr Underwood's car on May 16.

KMTV said Mr Underwood was on a recruiting trip when he was killed.

Marshall is reportedly due to be sentenced on June 17.

In the UK friends of Mr Underwood are holding a match at Charlton Athletic's home ground to celebrate his life.

Exactly one year after his death, friends and family will kick off at the Valley in a fitting tribute to the football fan.
