An elderly woman had £19,000 savings stolen and was pushed down a flight of stairs during a robbery in north London.

The 72-year-old victim had left a block of flats in Duncombe Road, Upper Holloway, to go to the bank with the money when she was approached by two men, one of whom snatched her handbag.

During the struggle the woman was pushed down some stairs, causing bruising to her leg.

The man who took the bag ran off, while the second man initially walked off but began to run when the woman called out for help.

Police say the man who took the bag is described as a black man of dark skin tone, in his 20s and around 5ft 8ins tall. He was wearing a grey hooded top.

The second man is described as a black man of a lighter completion with stubble, in his 20s and around 6ft tall. He was wearing a hooded top which was pulled tight around his face.

Last month a 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery in connection with the incident at 11.50am on June 5.

He was bailed to return to a north London police station in mid August.
