Police are looking for two football supporters after a Tube passenger was victim of a racially-aggravated attack following a West Ham v Sunderland match.
The incident happened onboard a District line train at Barking Underground station on the evening of March 21 after the Hammers had played Sunderland at home.
There was an argument between two fans and a 26-year-old man from Newham at around 7.15pm as the train travelled between East Ham and Barking.
The man was physically assaulted by the pair as the train pulled into Barking.
He was helped from the carriage by members of the public and the police were called.
The man was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital suffering cuts and bruising to his face and mouth.
It is believed the two attackers fled the scene at Barking station.
British Transport Police officers are treating the assault as racially-aggravated and have released images of two men they want to speak with.
Detective Inspector Chris Neeson said: “We believe they are football supporters and may have been returning home from the day’s West Ham versus Sunderland game.
“If you recognise them, or witnessed the incident and have not yet spoken to the police, please get in touch.”
