A red Ferrari crashed in Ewell this morning to the shock of office workers and shoppers.

The expensive convertible is believed to have hit a lamppost and one of its wheels flew off in Kingston Road near the junction with Ruxley Lane.

Stuart Tree, who works at Skyguard in Kingston Road, said he went outside after the crash had happened and saw the damaged Ferrari at about 11am.

Mr Tree said: “He’s hit a lamppost and obviously the back of the car is smashed and one of the wheels has come off.”

Paramedics and police officers attended the scene, and he said: “As you would imagine there was quite a gathering with people coming out of cafes and shops.

"It caused a bit of a stir in the office because it’s not every day you see a Ferrari crash.”

A police spokesman said: "Surrey Police was called to Kingston Road, Ewell at 11.17am today following reports of a single vehicle collision involving a Ferrari.

"The road was re-opened at 12.52pm and no persons were injured."
