Tenants were given a helping hand to celebrate Hanukkah when a torch relay helped light the candles.
People living at Jewish Community Housing Association, in Golders Green, were visited by delegates of Maccabi youth leaders from Israel yesterday, as part of the 70th Maccabi Tzair Torch Relay.
In the relay, the torch is lit at the graves of the Maccabees in Israel, before travelling through Israel and around the world, lighting the Hanukkah candles in Trafalgar Square on its way.
Eve Cohen, who has lived at Lionel Leighton Court for 16 years, said: “It has been a lovely visit from the young Israelis. Many of us have been to Israel but they have enjoyed telling us about where they live.”
