A student from Stanmore who changed her career from flight attendant to nurse has won the chance to spend three months working overseas.

Joy Tay, 56, of Weston Drive, will be working alongside leading international nurses in Geneva from July of this year.

She will be learning from nurse consultants, health professionals, visiting partner organisations and attending conferences.

Ms Tay, who is graduating from Buckinghamshire New University in Uxbridge this September, was selected for the role at the council following a three-month process.

She previously worked for Delta Air Lines in the United States and was sponsored to study at Bucks New University by the Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council.

In return, she has regularly returned to Thailand to promote nursing education.

She said: "This opportunity with the ICN really is a fantastic chance to learn from professionals and see how work should be done effectively.

“I feel very honoured to have been selected.”
